Updates
--Posted by Webmaster on Monday,Jun-4-2007--
Sorry for the delayed updates. Things have actually been going fairly well. A few of the team members are redesigning the pulley system to be more efficient and get more of the thrust engine's power to the prop. There are also members working on shaping the front end in preparation for fiberglassing. The wiring is closed to done but there are still some touch-ups that need to be made. As you probably know, we are not just going for functionality; we are also trying to make it aesthetically pleasing.
As far as pictures go, they still need to be uploaded. Hopefully you will be able to visually follow along with the project again very soon.
Again, sorry for the delay and we hope you continue to keep up with the project as it nears it's completion.

Life in the Fast Lane
--Posted by Webmaster on Wednesday,Mar-28-2007--
Well, as it is obvious that many of you already know, this past Saturday we put the engine back together, rewired it, and mounted it back onto the hovercraft. After a few hours we had everything put back together so that we could have our first thrust test with the new engine. In case you haven't seen them, new videos and pictures are posted in the gallery.
Problems:
1) The electric start seems to be having a little problem turning the load over, but we are currently looking into that. (Pull start works for now)
2) It appears as though the tension pulley that was recommended to us by an automotive parts employee didn't meet our requirements so it will need replacing.
3) We also lack a large, open, fairly level surface to test it on and practice driving it.
After we figure out these few things, we will set everything to it's permanent position. There are still a few exterior parts that need mounting. After all of this is completed, we will then be able to finish the shaping of the foam body in preparation for fiberglassing.

Photogallery Up
--Posted by Webmaster on Tuesday,Mar-20-2007--
I just wanted to let it be known that the photo gallery is now back up. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to it but at least you have photos while we are working on it.
The more current photos that were mentioned yesterday should be up later in the week.

Engine/body Update
--Posted by Webmaster on Monday,Mar-19-2007--
Well, as you all know, for a while now we have had problems with the TA440C engine that will be used for thrust. After it's purchase we never could get it to run correctly. Noone on the team knew much about small engines and due to the fact that it is a snowmobile engine, shops in the Savannah area either couldn't or wouldn't help us. As unfortunate as this was, we decided to keep working on the body until something could be done about the engine.
Well, during one of our meetings two Saturdays ago Dr. Coates was able to get some interested students out to the GTSAV campus to try to figure out what was wrong with the engine. After tearing most of it down, some of the problems were determined to be a split seal and a sheared keyway. These problems are currently being addressed.
Sometime today or tomorrow we will try to get all the pictures back up in the gallery. It will probably be later this week before any new pictures of the body and engine work will be available.

Temp Site
--Posted by Webmaster on Monday,Mar-19-2007--
Constructive criticism will be appreciated as the site is being built. Please let me know if you are having any problems with links. Any general input about navigation of the site would be great as well.
Please keep in mind that this is just what could be scraped up from the old site. There are several known glitches at the moment but hopefully they will be fixed soon. The photo gallery will be full of pictures at some point in the near future so that you can see how the craft is coming along.
Again, thanks for your patience and as always, thanks for your interest in this site.
